A general purpose caring/accessibility grant for those attending conferences sponsored or supported by the UK’s Royal Astronomical Society is now available.  These include a number of international meetings relevant to geophysicists, for example the British Seismology Meeting, Near Surface Geophysics Group, and Geofutures. Anyone attending such a conference or event is welcome to apply for up to £250 to defray additional costs of meeting attendance, for example those associated with childcare, accessible transportation, etc. More information and application guidelines can be found at RAS Carers Grant

NSGG Recent Advances in Archaeological Geophysics 2026

The Near Surface Geophysics Group of the Geological Society of London (NSGG) will be holding the seventeenth biennial day meeting devoted to archaeological geophysics on 9th December 2026. This is primarily an in-person day meeting at Burlington House, and we would encourage in-person attendance where practically possible. However, an option for online attendance will be available.

As with previous meetings it will offer a forum where contributors from the UK and further afield can present and discuss the results of recent research and case studies. Suppliers of equipment and software also attend showcasing their products, offering an excellent networking platform to academic and commercial end users.

The meeting always presents an invaluable opportunity for archaeological, geophysical and forensic geoscience practitioners to exchange information about recent developments.
