David is Head of Geology and Geophysics at GEOWYND. He studied for an MSc in Geophysics at Leeds University.
Can you give a brief description of what the company/employer does and how your role fits in?
Geowynd provide services for the Renewables Sector. These services primarily involve created Desk Top Studies, Preliminary Ground Models and Integrated Ground Models for Wind Farm developments. We integrate Geotechnical and Geophysical data. My role is leading the Ground Modeling Team.
What does a typical day in your working life look like?
Managing a small team of Geologists and Geophysicists (6 team members). Involved in overseeing the Ground Models and business development.
What was your pathway to what you do for your job now?
Started in the Oil and Gas industry for 15 years, working offshore and then onshore from research to commercial development. Renewables sector for the last 4 years.
What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career like yours?
Studying geophysics opens the way to any number of career paths, be that offshore, research, Oil and Gas, Renewables sector.
