Can you give a brief description of what the company/employer does and how your role fits in?
We look for repeatable patterns in financial markets, and exploit these using mathematical algorithms. Our clients are typically pension schemes.
What does a typical day in your working life look like?
Highly varied. Studying markets (we trade around 900), communicating with clients, either in the office, or travelling around the world.
What was your pathway to what you do for your job now?
I loved geophysics, seismology, and science in general. I apply all these techniques in finance, but in a way that is more relatable to what goes on in the world.
What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career like yours?
Go for it. Investigate. There are huge opportunities out there for anyone with a scientific and numerical mindset. Geophysics is a fantastic foundation.
